TESTING STANDARDS

Missile impact refers to the testing procedure where an 8-foot, 9 lb. 2x4 lumber is fired at the door at 50ft/s. This methodology is used for both HVHZ and standard impact testing, it is the pass-fail criteria that differs. STANDARD IMPACT

HVHZ IMPACT To pass HVHZ testing, no air infiltration can pass through the impact area created on the surface of the door after the missile impact. This ensures maximum protection from both wind pressure and flying debris.

To pass standard impact testing, a 3-inch sphere cannot fit through any resulting cracks in the door after the missile impact. This confirms it can resist debris while maintaining structural integrity.
