Things to Consider About Doorglass
SHAPES, SIZES AND CONFIGURATIONS Our doorglass designs are offered in several sizes from a partial-view to a full-view glass door. We also offer sidelight and transom glass. A selection of shapes, as well, offers plenty of options to meet your design preference and amount of natural light you’re looking for.
Decorative glass is handmade by skilled craftsman, and it is subject to variation. Each piece of glass is cut and individually positioned into the caming to create the decorative design. In the tradition of decorative glass creation, glass fits into the caming but is not cemented into the caming. Therefore the decorative glass panel is subject to some movement and sound (usually more of a “tinkling” sound); this is not considered a defect.
HANDCRAFTED GLASS We use handcrafted glass—clear, textured, beveled, and colored—in designs as varied as the people who buy them. Decorative glass is sealed between two panels of tempered safety glass, insulated for air- and water-tight performance.
CAMING Caming—the metal work that joins glass—is an element of most designs. Look for designs with caming op- tions that coordinate with your door hardware, light fixtures, or interior furnishings.
LIGHT & PRIVACY Our designs vary widely in the amount of light they bring in and the amount of privacy they afford. Each is given a privacy rating from 1 (clear) to 10 (opaque) so you can choose the right amount of light or opacity for you.

LOW-E DOORGLASS Available as a clear doorglass option, Low-E glass is made with an invisible thin metallic coating that blocks heat flow.A proven energy saver, Low-E glass reduces air conditioning costs by reducing solar transmissions in the summer. In the winter, it reduces heat loss to the outside and allows solar energy to pass inside. Available in SevereWeather®, Blinds and Shades, Grilles Between Glass, and Clear Doorglass. REDUCES FABRIC FADING Low-E glass protects fabrics, carpets and all coverings from fading by blocking up to 61% of harmful ultra-violet rays. REDUCE SOLAR HEAT GAIN In cold weather, Low-E glass stays warm on the inside, minimizing cold spots and convection currents. REDUCES CONDENSATION Cold glass and warm, moist indoor air can cause damaging condensation. Low-E glass keeps glass warmer, reducing condensation.

TriSYS ® Frame IN FIBERMATE ® WHITE, OAK & MAHOGANY MATERIAL
The TriSYS ® three piece frame system is the only one of its kind available in the market today. Simply screw together the outer frame and the inner cassette to hold the doorglass into place and snap on the inner frame. The TriSYS frame has no screw hole covers for a clean aesthetic and is easily painted or stained. The TriSYS frame can be used in high heat environments.

ZEEL is a sleek, low profile frame designed to be stained or painted that blends seamlessly into the entry door, allowing the doorglass to take center stage. Traditional frames can warp when subject to severe temperature changes or direct sunlight exposure, especially when painted dark colors. FiberMate Plus ™ is our strongest material yet and exceeds performance expectations in extreme environments. Frame IN FIBERMATE PLUS TM WHITE MATERIAL ZEEL TM
Resolve ® sealant is immune to squeeze out and doesn’t degrade. This clean thermoset foam seal can be repositioned and stays consistent over time. ZEEL eliminates the need for screws and cumbersome screw hole covers with an innovative clip system. This allows each frame to sit flush, streamlining installation and greatly reducing installation time and effort. This efficient installation offers an alternative to costly flush glazed doors.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
MATERIALS NEEDED A. Lint-free cloth B. Mineral Spirits C. Rubber glove D. Masking tape
E. 4" bristle brush F. For acrylic based application: Acrylic-based primer/acrylic latex-based exterior grade paint G. For oil-based application: Alkyd-based primer/oil-based exterior grade paint
STEP 1: SURFACE PREPARATION - DO NOT SAND FIBERGLASS. 1. Lay door horizontally on saw horses or a table. 2. Remove all the hardware and mask off anything you don’t want painted, such as glass insert. 3. Wipe the door with mineral spirits to clean any dust or residue from the surface. Allow all mineral spirits to dry from the surface before applying paint. STEP 2: PAINTING 1. Apply exterior grade paint with 4" brush in the direction of the grain. 2. All door panels, stiles need to be painted. If applying a second coat, follow the manufacturer’s directions for drying time between coats.
STAINING INSTRUCTIONS (TEXTURED FIBERGLASS ONLY)
MATERIALS NEEDED A. Lint-free cloth B. Mineral Spirits C. Rubber gloves STEP 1: SURFACE PREPARATION - DO NOT SAND FIBERGLASS. 1. Lay door horizontally on saw horses or a table. 2. Remove all the hardware and mask off anything you don’t want stained such as the glass insert. 3. Wipe the door with mineral spirits to clean any dust or residue from the surface. Allow all mineral spirits to dry from the surface before applying stain. STEP 2: STAIN APPLICATION FIRST COAT 1. Stain one panel at a time. Starting with the center panel, apply a thin, even amount of stain with a lint-free cloth. Using a light circular motion, work the stain into the embossed grain. 2. Then, with a CLEAN RAG remove all excess finish. Using long strokes, move in the direction of the grain. Work quickly. 3. If lap marks appear, immediately apply more stain to dissolve them, working the area to an even color. This coat primarily leaves the stain in the grain pattern. SECOND COAT - Allow the door to dry for at least 24 hrs. between coats. 1. Work on one section of the door at a time. 2. Using a soft lint-free cloth, apply a liberal coat of stain. 3. Working quickly while the stain is wet, use a clean and dry 2" bristle brush to remove the excess stain and create a uniform look. 4. Make long, quick brush strokes in the direction of the grain. 5. Using paper towels or a rag, be sure to remove any excess stain as it accumulates on the brush. 6. If only the exterior face of the door is to be stained, stain the hinged edge of the door. If both sides of the door are to be stained, stain both edges. STEP 3: PROTECTIVE TOP COAT Apply polyurethane top coat with UV inhibitors like ZAR™ Exterior polyurethane, Wood Kote ® Flagship UV, Minwax ® Fast Drying Polyurethane for exterior applications. 1. After stain has completely dried (24 hours), mix topcoat well and apply evenly using a clean dry 2" bristle brush to work topcoat into corners. 2. Apply two or three coats of finish, allowing at least 24 hours of drying time between each application. D. Masking tape E. 2" bristle brush F.
